Soundwalk

Amsterdam-based artist Rubén Patiño makes time-based work with sound, light, video and more. A member of the Fluxus techno/military space music’ unit N.M.O., at Sonic Acts Patiño delivers the soundwalk Drasland Stretch strained through his new solo project Lag OS that flouts the limits of concert, public event and installation.

Drasland Stretch is a secret synthetic soundwalk premiering at Sonic Acts. Based on an outdoor collective listening experience, the work investigates the relationship between imaginary soundscapes and night-time dew from a specific location in Amsterdam. Drasland Stretch is a soundwalk bearing the rave tradition of secrecy, with the location of the soundwalk revealed as a map point to the desiring revellers. From here, participants are provided the soundfile and navigate the surroundings using just their own headphones and listening devices.

Rubén Patiño (Lag OS) is an artist based in Amsterdam who incorporates club culture and contemporary art in electronic music. The communicative and emotional medium of sound assists in his challenging of the standardised formats of concert, public event and installation. As Lag OS (Anòmia, Haunter Records), Patiño, explores soundscapes in recreating artificial environments, muddling abstract sound with ambient and amorphous club music. He is part of N.M.O, a Fluxus techno/military space music’ unit that, together with Morten J. Olsen, presents in museums, clubs and festivals internationally.
