RUI HO Club DJ and producer RUI HO’s second EP In Pursuit of the Sun (2019) sets a classical Chinese story about a giant chasing the sun from East to West to hardcore, trance and jungle. A regular on the Berlin ball scene, her cyber-queer DJ nights energise crowds enchanted by her encyclopaedic knowledge of dance music from China to the EU, trap to trance. Berlin-based Chinese producer and composer RUI HO makes electronic music that bridges the modern club music landscape with traditional Chinese sounds. RUI HO infuses Chinese melodies of her Shanghai home into compositions and productions, while drawing inspiration from grime, rave and reggaeton to top 40 hits, Japanese animé and gaming soundtracks. In her work the intensity of a wild club night are combined with sweet melodies from her past and present.
