Bio

Nicholas Dawson (Bookworms) is an electronic composer based in New York whose sound works under the name Bookworms conjure harmonics, rhythms and their ghosts through advanced synthesis, generative sequencing and audio collage. He has released music on labels including L.I.E.S. Records, Anòmia and Bánh Mi Verlag and is part of live and recording projects with Leila Bordreuil and fellow Sonic Acts guest Dylan Scheer (Via App). His debut Xenophobe (2016), a double-LP of dissected, rhythmic musical lineages, was followed by feedback loop-concerned LP Appropriation Loops (2017). Squat raves in Germany and Mexico, OUT.FEST, Off Festival Katowice and MoMA PS1 have hosted his performances. In 2013 he started a monthly residency in Brooklyn Confused House, now a record label co-founded with Jason Letkiewicz (aka Steve Summers).
