Dirty Brown

Dirty brown presspic 2019

Dirty Brown is a Rotterdam-based studio project initiated by artist Joost Kosir in 2001. Working on the edges of what video is, or could be, Dirty Brown sports a direct and raw aesthetic. Inspired by decaying city life, modern communication and data corruption… you can expect fast-paced visuals, organic glitching, high contrasts and hints of typography and architecture. Dirty Brown uses a vast array of tools and methods to create rich abstract narratives, eerie moods and uneasy flickering. Most works could be described as lonely post-apocalyptic mumblings of a dead society to itself. Over almost twenty years this has resulted in video clips, short films, installations, theatre backgrounds and hundreds of live vj shows all over the globe. Highlights include screenings at the Akbank Short Festival in Turkey and on VPRO in the Netherlands and vj shows at Lowlands, Awakenings and Creamfields.
